I am not married according to any state. According to the world I am a single mom. Looking at my life through the eyes of the world, I am on my own and it’s unimaginable how I get through even a single day. But all that is a lie. I have a perfect Husband who is also my Savior, Redeemer, my Abba, and Best Friend.
Thanks to a very dear friend for God putting this on her heart, I wear a wedding band. I am married. I’m married to God. While my status according to state documents is divorced, I know the truth. I am thankful for my earthly marriage. I am thankful for the good times, for the heartache, and even for the eventual brokenness. Crazy right? But I couldn’t be as whole as I am now if I wasn’t first broken. God healed all the lies, and replaced them with His truth and His promises.
To my single moms (and dads!), however you became single, know you are not alone. You have a Husband/Wife who is standing with you. Let Jesus be your center. We are all in a Holy Marriage. All God’s covenants and promises are vows He has made to take care of us, to love us, and never leave us.
These are some of God’s promises. There will never be enough room to list them all 🙂
-He will never leave
Deuteronomy 31:6: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
-He has good plans for me and you
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
-He will provide
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
-We have complete peace and joy
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 15:11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
-He is my Husband
Isaiah 54:5 5 For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.
Hosea 2:19-20 I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord.
It is my deepest prayer and hope that this encourages someone today, regardless of your “status” or what storm you going through. May you know in your heart and mind that you are not alone. Stop believing the lies of the enemy and look to, and remember, God’s Promises.
What are you seeking from God today? What peace do you need to rest in tonight?
Hi! I’m so glad you’re here and that you found me! ❤️
The first thing I want to share is that I am a daughter of God. The second thing I want to share, is my joy of being His daughter! I want to share that undefinable joy by sharing my humble journey. The ups and downs, twisters and hurricanes, heartbreaks and healing. The whole 12 yards. Through all the sorrow there has been joy and comfort at the very center.
There is a comfort in knowing that I am His that no shopping mall, or gorgeous pair of shoes, can fulfill. This comfort and peace is unshakeable because it is rooted in God’s unfailing love. Though the world and the enemy often attempt to steal that joy and comfort, their schemes fail.
King David understands all too well the schemes of those who mean harm. He was hunted down by Saul for years. Even one of his own sons sought to kill him. In Psalm 3:3-4, he calls out to God “But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the LORD, and He answers me from His holy mountain” (NIV). What comfort to know all I have to do is call out to Him, even if all I can manage is a whisper.
It is because of His unfailing love, His hesed, that He will come running to my call. Just as any father would answer the call of his daughter when she is in distress. How the enemy wants us women so badly to be distressed and anxious and to feel like we’re failing. Some days, all I can do is cling to that love my Father has for me.
Grace and Peace
